George's Buffet

I think that George‘s have the best cheeseburgers and music in town. Plus very cute bartendars!!! I love George‘s

During graduate school I was in this place every day! The burgers are hot and the beer is cold. What else could you want? The staff is always just a bit up-tight, but that‘s to be expected at this "Best Bar in Iowa City!"

A sanctuary for hipsters and townies. Dimly lit, great atmosphere with sub par service and fantastic burgers. Mike D‘s nine thumbs up.

Smoky as all get out, but a fantastic dive bar.

It‘s an iconic place not for outsiders or morons. So if you expect servers to fawn over you go somewhere else. You are not welcome. ANd you money is no good either (bring the Euros anyway).
Here‘s what George‘s really is: it‘s a good, smoked, stinky spelunka that will provide some respite from the loosers up at Foxhead, across the street to the East.
Best thing about George‘s: good juke-box (no hip-hop ape noises!) and solid hamburgers.

The place seems like a dump. The doorknob is falling off the door in the women‘s restroom. The wait staff with a few exceptions never smiled or even attempted to be polite. It looks like it has been years since the place was cleaned. The patrons were much more friendly than the staff who were being paid to work there. Come on owner, clean the place up !

Mostly a good time. A little pricey, and there is one female bartender that has an attitude problem (Angela? Annie?), but overall nice atmosphere
